Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy
What do we know about this “terra incognita” subject - Hypnosis & Hypnotherapy? What kind of associations come to our minds when we hear the word “Hypnosis”? Do we feel frightened by it? Mystified? Feel deeply sceptical about the whole idea of hypnosis & therapy that comes with it for various reasons? Or simply not interested about the subject believing only fools & uneducated people can be drawn to the concept of it? Furthermore, we all lead such busy lives meaning we definitely do not have any extra time for side interest like that? And if yes, why do we feel that way?
Hypnotic state is an absolutely natural state of a human’s mind; we pass though hypnotic state daily (some call it hypnogogic) whenever we go to sleep or awaken.
Hypnosis is a tool allowing people to direct their subconscious to accept conscious decisions, absorb inner experiences and finding meaning in them, and focus on the inner resources to overcome obstacles and problems in the way of finding the solutions to problems.
The main benefit of practicing self hypnosis on daily basis is about inducing a state of physical and psychological equilibrium in humans through active positive guided visualisation and mindfulness process ; it’s not only for alleviating emotional and physical pain and psychogenic problems, it also helps to increase concentration, motivation, timidity, enhances memory, creativity, work and sport, sexual performances; , it is scientifically proven that practicing hypnosis on ongoing basis amplifies the process of healing and increase the body’s natural ability to oppose or recover from chronic and acute illnesses… in addition, hypnotherapy helps to eliminate unwanted habits (smoking, nail biting, bed wetting etc), alleviate anxieties and fears and phobias (e.g. fear of flying, agoraphobia etc), manage the ideal weight and is widely used for stress management ( especially to lower Blood Pressure BP ) and assist in managing psychosomatic disturbances etc. One needs to keep in mind the close relation of hypnosis & faith – Belief is one of the most important parts of hypnosis. The subconscious belief is the most influential, powerful factor of human lives for it determines all behavioural patterns of human nature and decides whether we succeed or fail, be happy or unhappy, are well or un-well - therefore hypnosis is used to get rid of unwanted behaviours/old behavioural patterns and limiting beliefs to manifest new positive changes, according to your desires.
I believe multiple psychosomatic conditions may be approached in the drug free manner coupled with supportive Client Centred approach and therefore can only advantage, support clients in their best interests. In my opinion, focusing on quality of the relationship with client is paramount as treatment itself.
